![]() ![]() but if you are not super dexterous with your controller you may have a tough time. Most of the combos and special moves have this type of configuration. In other words to do a certain katana move, the combo required is (L thumb stick left) + (L thumb stick left) + R2. Many of the special abilities are triggered using a thumbstick combo. My only complaint is the controls are a little wonky. There are even secret 8-bit rooms where when you enter you think you are going back in time. You can carry all your guns (not limited to just two like most FPS) and the action is fast. It is the same type over the top action those games had. If you liked DOOM, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, or the original Shadow Warrior, you will love this. It is not the most glamorous or realistic game ever, but it truly pays homage to its inspirations. If you enjoy 90s shooters you NEED to try this game out. ![]() This game is very cheap currently d I would recommend it for someone who is in the mood for a FPS thats a little different and a lot of fun! So a map would have alleviated those kind of problems. Their is a level in a cave I got stuck IN forever, because I didnt see this little cavern I had to turn in to. There is no map and the objectives arent always very clear. I got lost so many times on a few a levels. By the way this game is very violent and gory, not for the kids!Īs much as I like the game, their was one thing that drove me nuts about this game. You can upgrade your sword and do cool stuff like send a sonic boom of energy towards your enemies, 360 spin attack that decapitates all the enemies surrounding you and more! it never gets old chopping enemies up. If you play this game, its all about the sword attacks. The shooting mechanics aren't as tight as a game like COD or Battlefield, but get the job done, but that is besides the point. Basically you are la hitman looking for some Demonic sword for your boss and end up fighting a crap load of gangsters and demons along the way. This is game you dont really play for the story, so I wont even waste anytime talking about it. This is basically an old school FPS with an emphasis on the sword attacks/melee. I didnt see any reviews for it in any game magazine or major websites. This is a budget game that got very little press. Both are forgivable though since this game is a lot of fun and the price is right. There was a goofy story that was moderately enjoyable.Ī couple of things were a little annoying, such as not having a map and the graphics being more like a PS3 game than a PS4 game. The voice acting in this game was amusing to me. I also liked that each weapon and special move can be upgraded as well as the character's health. The game offers several different difficulty levels, so anyone can play. Hacking and slashing works well though too and I mostly found myself using the special moves when there was just one enemy around. Also, sometimes I would enter one gesture, but the controller recognized it as a different gesture. I had a difficult time remembering which swiping gesture corresponded to each special move and I also had difficulty quickly performing the gestures. One part of the game I didn't like was that it was controlling the different special moves was difficult. Using the touch pad, you can control a variety of special moves. ![]() The sword is probably the most useful and fun-to-use weapon. In most games, I find I stick with just one weapon, but in this one, each one had a use. Each of the weapons seems to work better in different situations so they are all fun to try. The game last about 20 hours and there are a variety of weapons to try and upgrade. I didn't play the original Shadow Warrior games, but the lack of knowledge of the original doesn't make the game less fun. I decided to give this game a try given the good reviews and the budget-friendly price. ![]()
